Finlay I-130 and I-130RS Impact Crushers: What the Specs Mean for Buyers

Finlay, the Terex-owned maker of mobile crushing, screening and conveying equipment, has expanded its horizontal impact crusher range with the I-130 and I-130RS. The new models sit between the I-120/I-120RS and the larger I-140/I-140RS, targeting operators who want strong impact performance in a package that is easier to transport and reconfigure between quarrying, recycling, asphalt and demolition jobs.
At the core of both machines is a 42- by 49-inch four-bar rotor with twin hydraulic aprons, fed by a heavy-duty vibrating grizzly feeder. Drive is direct with a soft-start system, which Finlay credits with smoother engagement, better fuel economy and reduced wear on drivetrain components. Two options matter most for running costs: an independent pre-screen can strip fines out before they reach the chamber, cutting unnecessary wear, and an optional under-pan feeder protects the main belt while working with an overband magnet to handle rebar and steel contamination in demolition and C&D feed.
The I-130RS adds the screening side. Its two-deck afterscreen is claimed as the largest in its class, and both decks can be recirculated for closed-loop operation, or the bottom deck’s oversize can be diverted to make a mid-grade product without a separate screener. The 500 mm (20 in.) recirculation conveyor slews up to 90 degrees for stockpiling, and an optional windsifter removes light contaminants such as wood, paper and plastic. The RS section is modular: the whole afterscreen package can be detached to cut transport weight, or just the screen removed while the recirculation conveyor stays on.
Service access is a deliberate feature rather than an afterthought: large platforms, clear walkways and fully hinged crusher sections that simplify blow bar changes and liner inspection. On an impact crusher, blow bars and apron liners are the dominant consumable cost, so quick and safe access directly reduces downtime per change.
For buyers comparing machines in this size class, the configuration choices are the real story. A pre-screen plus under-pan feeder suits high-contamination recycling feed; the windsifter matters where clean aggregate is the end product; and the detachable RS section keeps road transport weight down when the machine moves between sites or across borders. Parts availability for rotors, blow bars, liners and belting should be confirmed with the local Terex Finlay dealer before purchase — consumable supply is what keeps a mid-size crusher earning.
